Fleet Pleads Not Guilty

69 year old John Fleet of Wilmington made his first court appearance Wednesday in Will County Court.  Fleet is charged with violating the state’s Scott’s law in the death of 35 year old Illinois State trooper Clay Carns on I-55 in the Channahon area on December 23rd.  Carns was clearing some debris in the roadway when he was hit by Fleet driving a Chevy pickup truck north of Blodgett Road.  Carns later died at the hospital.  Fleet pleaded not guilty yesterday. His next court date is March 3rd.
