Last week, Governor JB Pritzker declared a public health emergency because of the Monkeypox. Kankakee County Health Department Administrator John Bevis says so far, there have been no confirmed or suspected cases of the virus in Kankakee County

Bevis added that with Kankakee County’s proximity to Chicago, it’s probably just a matter of time before Monkeypox shows up in the County, but pointed out the virus doesn’t spread easily.
