Garage Fire in Kankakee

Kankakee Firefighters were called to the 1100 block of South 3rd Ave. in Kankakee this afternoon for a garage fire.  Kankakee Fire said a nearby neighbor called 911 after hearing an explosion and seeing flames and smoke coming from what’s described as a small detached garage.  The garage is a total loss.  The cause is still under investigation.  Damage is estimated at 15,000 dollars for the garage and another 15,000 dollars for the damage suffered by a neighbor’s home. No one was hurt in the blaze.
