Kankakee man arrested with allegedly stolen gun

A Kankakee man was arrested Wednesday after he was found to have an allegedly stolen gun. According to reports, it was just after 8:30 yesterday morning when officers were called by a woman who told them 45-year-old Jose. Y Mendez had hit her in the eye with his boot and threatened her with a gun. Officers say they took Mendez into custody and a search of his house reportedly turned up a gun that had been reported stolen out of Joliet. Mendez was arrested by City Police for unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm among other charges.
