Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police report they’ve broken up a suspected dog fighting ring in Pembroke Township. In a press release, the sheriff’s department says it was just before midnight Friday night when officers from the Sheriff’s Office, Kankakee County Animal Control and agents from the Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group served a search warrant at a home in rural Pembroke Township, in reference to a suspected illegal dog fighting operation near three-thousand South and 13-thousand-700 East Roads. Reports say that search turned up evidence of suspected dog fighting and Animal Control took control of 18 dogs. Some of the dogs reported to be in poor health. The dogs are getting medical treatment. No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
