Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner has ruled homicide in the case of a man shot to death on the lawn of a home in Kankakee Sunday afternoon. Gessner says 40-year-old Randal D. Young of Kankakee died of a gunshot wound to his head. Kankakee City Police say they were called to a home in the 11-hundred block of East Merchant about 3:30 Sunday afternoon for a report of shots fired. When they got there, they found Young and another man on the front lawn of the home, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were taken to the hospital where Young later died. The other man’s injuries are not thought to have been life-threatening. City Police say several witnesses are cooperating with their investigation, but ask anyone with information on the shooting to call their office or Crime Stoppers at 815-93-CRIME.
