Man killed in Iroquois County crash identified

We have an ID now on the Rantoul man that was killed yesterday morning when the car he was driving collided with another on I-57 near Buckley. Iroquois County Coroner Bill Cheatum identified the man as 45-year-old Emiliano Ortega Galena of Rantoul Cheatum says Galena’s car was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the interstate about five yesterday morning when his car hit a northbound car driven by a Buckley woman. She was taken to a Champaign hospital to be treated for her injuries. Galena was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Cheatum says it was foggy in the area at the time which may have contributed to the crash. Illinois State Police continue to investigate.
