Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow has announced a Kankakee man was sentenced to 20 years in prison this week in Will County Circuit Court. In a press release, Glasgow says Donovan DeWayne Burbridge was sentenced after being found guilty of attempted first degree murder and aggravated battery earlier this year. Burbridge was tried for an incident in March of 2024 where he punched and stomped a victim’s head while at Joliet’s River Valle Juvenile Detention Center. The attack left the victim in a nonverbal state and unable to eat without assistance. Glasgow says Burbridge will be eligible for parole in 10 years.
