Federal Jury Convicts Detainee For Assaulting Kankakee Co Correctional Officers

A federal jury is convicting a Chicago man of assaulting two correctional officers while being detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.  A federal jury returned two guilty verdicts against Jermaine Turner.  Prosecutors say Turner was being held by the United States Marshals Service at the Kankakee facility in November 2023 when he assaulted the two officers with a wooden broom handle.  Sentencing is scheduled for January.  Turner is currently serving a 120-month prison sentence for armed bank robbery.
