There’s still no sentencing date set for Xandria Harris who was found guilty in August for the 2021 murder of Bradley Police Sergeant Marlene Rittmanic and wounding of Officer Tyler Bailey. During a status hearing held in Kankakee County Court Friday afternoon, Defense attorney Cierra Norris says post trial motions have now been filed however a decision has not been made on whether she will stay on as Harris’ attorney or not. Norris said she doesn’t feel she can properly represent Harris post conviction and that Harris will more than likely have a new attorney. Kankakee County States Attorney Jim Rowe asked if a sentencing date could be set in November. Judge Kathy Bradshaw-Elliott said a sentencing hearing for Harris will more than likely not happen until early next year. A status hearing has been scheduled for October 30th to get a final answer on Harris’ attorney situation.
