Renville Cares and Turkey for Tots: Supporting Local Youth for the Holidays

By WVLI Podcast Network Nov 5, 2026 | 6:00 AM

On this edition of Kankakee Valley Community Happenings, host Denny Case is joined by Heather Anne from Renville Cares to discuss the upcoming season for the Turkey for Tots charitable initiative.

Renville Cares, the charitable arm of local terminal operator Renville Gaming, partners with the Kankakee Valley Beverage Association to support youth across Kankakee County and Iroquois County. Heather Anne details the history of Turkey for Tots—which has grown from serving a handful of children 30 years ago to taking 504 local children shopping last year. Each pre-registered child receives $125 to shop for holiday gifts alongside a volunteer personal shopper at Meijer, with 100% of fundraising proceeds directly funding the program.

This episode highlights two major upcoming community fundraisers supporting this effort:

  • 7th Heaven Benefit Concert: Saturday the 7th at the Quality Inn and Suites in Bradley. Doors open at 5:00 PM, with local opening act The Silhouettes performing at 6:00 PM, followed by 7th Heaven at 7:15 PM. General admission tickets are $20, and VIP tables of 10 are $300.
  • Turkey for Tots Auction and Dinner Banquet: Saturday, November 21st, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the former Carson’s space in Northfield Square Mall, courtesy of the Village of Bradley. Admission is $5 and includes dinner, silent auctions, live auctions, and chances to win Meijer gift cards.

Listeners will also learn how community members and local businesses can sponsor a child directly for $125 if they are unable to attend the scheduled events.
