He won this year’s regional spelling bee, but Quinn Meadows will not be moving on to the finals of 2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. Because of the pandemic initial qualifying spelling rounds have been held virtually. In his preliminary round Saturday at Bradley Central, Meadows got tripped up by the word Hermeneutics. It means to have knowledge that deals with interpretations especially of the bible. Meadows also won the regional competition in 2019 and in that pre-pandemic era Meadows did get to travel to D.C. The trip is paid for every year by the Daily Journal.
