Smollett says he’s innocent

Jussie Smollett is reiterating his innocence in a new song after being convicted of staging a hate crime in Chicago.  The former “Empire” actor released a portion of the song “Thank You God” on Instagram last Friday.  In the song, Smollett says “you think I’m stupid enough to kill my reputation?”  He adds, “Y’all better look at someone else, you got the wrong one.”  Smollett was found guilty of five counts of disorderly conduct last December and sentenced to 150 days in jail for lying to police about being the victim of a phony racist and homophobic attack in 2019.  However, he was let out of jail last month after an Illinois appeals court ordered his release while he appeals his conviction.
