Fatal crash in Momence

A Corrections officer and another person are dead and two others are in critical condition following a crash in Momence early Sunday morning. Momence Police say it was about two Sunday morning when they were called to the area of Maple and Washington for a one-car crash where the car had hit a tree. Two people died at the scene of the crash. One of those has been identified by the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office as County Corrections Officer Luis Berrera. Berrera had worked for the Sheriff’s Office for a little over a year. Momence Police say they continue to investigate the crash.
