Today is Juneteenth, a national holiday set a side to commemorate the end of slavery in our country in 1865. Kankakee Mayor Chris Curtis says the city will celebrate Saturday with several different festivities.
Mayor Curtis added that city offices will be closed today in honor of the holiday.
