There is still a fog in the air about who is the acting Village Attorney in the Village of Manteno. At last night’s Village Board meeting, Mayor Annette LaMore requested that Joseph Cainkar be removed from the board table by Police Chief Alan Swinford and taken to crowd seating. Both refused to do so. Mayor LaMore cited that last weeks special meeting, in which board members voted to reinstate Joseph Cainkar as village attorney over Vesselli Law Firm, saying the meeting was illegal and that the vote did not count.
Trustee Joel Gesky, however, believes that the vote holds and Cainkar is still acting attorney.
Trustee Gesky believes that the matter will ultimately be decided in a courtroom.
