Illinois State Police are investigating a crash near Gibson City over the weekend that took the life of a 38-year-old Romeoville woman. State Police say it was just after 8:30 Saturday morning when the car driven by Tanya M. Collier of Romeoville collided with a school bus on Route 9 at Ford County one-thousand East Road. Troopers say Collier’s car didn’t stop at the intersection and pulled in front of the school bus, which was carrying 20 members of the Hoopeston Middle School softball team. The Ford County Chronicle says Collier died at the scene of the crash and three other people inside the car were taken to the hospital. All the students were also checked out at the hospital, but none were thought to have been seriously injured in the crash. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
