The second week of testimony gets underway today in the murder trial of Xandria Harris. Friday afternoon testimony and emotional bodycam footage were presented to the jury. The 30-year-old Harris, is accused of aiding her then boyfriend Darius Sullivan in the 2021 Bradley hotel shooting that killed Bradley Police Sergeant Marlene Rittmanic and severely wounded Officer Tyler Bailey. 32-year-old Bailey who resigned from the Bradley Police Department at the rank of sergeant, testified that because of his injuries he has no memory of the shooting and now uses a wheelchair, suffers from seizures, and requires round-the-clock care. Dr. Tim Moran testified that Bailey survived two gunshot wounds to the head, calling his survival a miracle. Forensic pathologist Dr. James Filkins testified that Sergeant Rittmanic died from multiple gunshot wounds to the neck and skull. Jurors also viewed bodycam footage showing an unconscious Bailey being evacuated from the hotel, as well as the moments surrounding Rittmanic’s fatal shooting. The defense declined to cross-examine Bailey or either medical expert. The trial resumes Monday at 9:30 a.m. and is expected to last through Friday.
