The State of Illinois recently announced the first human case of West Nile Virus in the state this year. Kankakee County Health Department Administrator John Bevis says testing is being done to detect West Nile in Kankakee County
Bevis says the weather we’ve had so far this summer has kept the number of mosquitoes that carry West Nile Virus to a minimum, but adds there are things you can do to lower your risk of contracting the disease
Bevis adds if you’re going to be outside in the evening or early morning it’s a good idea to use a bug repellant with DEET. You can contact the Health Department if you have any questions.
