The Grant Park Fire Protection District was kept busy over the weekend. Grant Park Firefighters were called to a garage fire and then a house fire within about an hour of each other Saturday afternoon. The first was a call to a garage fire on Esson Farm Road about a quarter past one Saturday afternoon. When they got there, firefighters say they found smoke and flames coming from the 120 by 20 foot structure. Fire departments from surrounding communities responded and helped put out the fire without letting it spread to other structures on the property. No one was injured battling the blaze. The Cause of the fire is under investigation.
Then, just before 2:30 Saturday afternoon Grant Park Fire was called to a house fire on Lake Metonga Trail. When they got there, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage and roof of the home. Once again, firefighters from surrounding communities were called in to help battle the blaze, which was put out without further damage to home. There were no injuries reported fighting that fire either and the cause of it is also under investigation.
