Peotone Police investigate robbery

Peotone Police are investigating another in that rash of smash and grab type robberies across the area, where a group of masked men enter business, smash video gaming machines with sledge hammers and make off with whatever cash they can get their hands on. This time, eight robbers in two cars arrived at the Peotone Travel Center just before five Thursday morning, five of them entered the business while two others guarded the entrance and the eighth acted as a look-out near Peotone-Wilmington Road. Peotone Police say the offenders were inside the building for less than three minutes before making off with an unknown amount of cash from the cash boxes. Nobody was injured and no one was playing the machines when the robbery took place. They ask anyone that may have seen a white or gray Acura leave the area around the time of the robbery contact their office.
