In a press release, Manteno Community Fire Protection District Fire Chief Rick Petersen says firefighters were called to the garage in the 200 block of South Hickory about a quarter past 11 last night and found flames showing from the garage. It’s believed the fire was sparked by downed power lines which had to be taken care of by ComEd before the fire could be put out. Manteno Fire, with the help of firefighters from surrounding communities were able to put out the fire without it getting into the home or any neighboring buildings.
