It’s Farm Safety week in Illinois. State Representative Jason Bunting has sponsored a resolution to encourage safety on the farm.
Bunting went on to say that the farming industry sees over 500 fatalities nationwide each year and it has a work-related death rate seven times higher than the national average for workers. The representative said Farm Safety week doesn’t end with farmers.
Bunting encourages motorists sharing the road with farmers moving heavy, slow equipment across our highways to remember to give these vehicles plenty of room and keep in mind that the driver may not be able to see you.
