Kankakee man arrested after alleged attempted armed robbery

Kankakee City Police have a 50-year-old Kankakee man in custody after he allegedly tried to rob a liquor store over the weekend. In a press release, City Police say it was just after 9:30 Sunday night when officers were called to the liquor store in the 300 block of South Schuyler Avenue, where an employee told them a masked man had entered the store, displayed a large knife and demanded money from the register. The employee says the would-be robber took off when he said he was calling police. Officers say their investigation lead them to 50-year-old Marveo L. Gray of Kankakee who was arrested on preliminary armed robbery charges. City Police do ask you call  them if you have any more information about the incident.
